Non-Discrimination Policy for PATH Hotline Callers
Individuals receiving PATH services are protected by various laws, regulations, rules, and policies against unlawful discrimination based on race, color, religion, disability, age, sex, and national origin.
What is Discrimination?
Discrimination is any action, intentional or not, that leads to unequal treatment. Individuals cannot be denied or delayed services due to their race, color, religion, disability, age, sex, national origin, or political affiliation.
- Be denied or delayed any service or benefit in a PATH program.
- Be subjected to segregation or unequal treatment.
- Receive services in a humiliating way.
- Be given different rules to determine who gets help.
- Be restricted from using spaces that limit access.
- Be denied service due to inaccessible facilities or poor communication.
If denied services based on these factors, it may be unlawful discrimination. Denial based on eligibility is lawful, not discriminatory.
Persons with Disabilities
PATH's policy is to comply with all relevant and applicable provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Individuals with hearing or visual impairments are also protected against discrimination. Accommodations may include providing qualified interpreters, oral translation, and/or written translation of documents. Accommodations will be provided free of charge.
